Busting
If your hand totals over 21 points with your
third or subsequent cards, you "Bust" and lose your bet even if the
dealer busts.
The casino gets most of its advantage (or "edge") from the fact that
the player busts first. All the perks available to the player,
such as Blackjack, doubling, splitting and insurance help lower
the casino edge, but are still not enough to completely remove it.
If you bust, just turn your cards over immediately. The dealer will take
away both your cards and your bet immediately. You are out of the game till
the next round. Sometimes busting is referred to as "breaking".
